Lens Types
Single vision lenses
These everyday lenses are prescribed for distance, intermediate (e.g. computer) or near visual correction.
Progressive lenses
These are handy because they provide a continuous, gradual change from distance to intermediate to near vision.
Bi-focal lenses
You get the best of both worlds with these. They give you two fields of vision – distance and near, with no correction for the intermediate distance. The lenses are sectioned into two distinct parts. The top part of the lens lets you see distant objects whilst the bottom section allows viewing of near objects.
Base lens materials
All of our lenses are scratch resistant. Anti-scratch layers dramatically reduce scratches for longer lasting clear vision.
Active lenses
Popular and lightweight, these lenses are made from the lightest lens material available and are up to 27% lighter than ordinary plastic lenses. They’re safer too, and are ten times more impact resistant than ordinary plastic lenses. Plus they significantly reduce the risk of eye injury. They have built in UV protection that screens out 99.9% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. And they’re thinner, which makes them far less noticeable for a more natural look.
Active plastic lenses
Tough as nails, these lenses are 10 times more impact resistant than plastic lenses.
Hi-Index lenses
Just because you require a strong prescription doesn’t mean you have to wear thick glasses. These thin and lightweight lenses are perfect for strong prescriptions. They provide 99.9% UV protection and include Invisibles Ultra.
Plastic lenses
These are tough and light as a feather glass lenses. You can add UV protection and tinting too.
Lens options
At OPSM eye hub you can upgrade your lenses with the latest in advanced optical technology.
Invisibles Ultra
The most technologically advanced anti-reflective lenses around. A special coating is applied to the lens, which resists dirt, water and smudges, making them much easier to clean. They’re anti-reflective too, reducing reflections by up to 80%, so you enjoy better vision. What’s more, water droplets bead and slide off the lens surface so you’ll see better in the rain.
Tints
Tints colour the lens for indoor or outdoor wear. They’re primarily used for personal style or to enhance sight in certain conditions. Lenses can be tinted (coloured) to a wide range of colours and when combined with UV protection they screen out UV radiation.
Polished edges
Usually everyone can see the edge of the lens if you get high-strength prescriptions or rimless frames. A frosted edge can be polished to give a less-visible look and polished edges can make the lens appear clearer and thinner.
Mirror
These lenses reflect light from the front surface of the lens. They also help to reduce visible glare. They can help make your sunglasses look more fashionable too.
